At the SLAW DC Cricket Tournament during Sri Lanka Day 2026 at Meadowbrook Local Park, we walked away as runners-up after an absolute thriller of a final. While hoisting the championship trophy is always the ambition, walking off that ground knowing you left every drop of sweat, grit, and passion on the pitch is something just as sweet. From our opening fixture straight into the final over of the day, Kurumbas set the pace and dominated across every stage of the tournament.
The final showdown against Lanka Lions was everything local cricket ought to be: fierce, electric, and contested down to the very last delivery.
Our core stood tall when the pressure was highest:
The All-Round Engine: Shihan, Shehan, and Chamee controlled the tempo with the bat and produced game-breaking moments with the ball whenever the team needed a shift in momentum.
The Bowling Attack: Milan, Vippy, and Diluka put on an absolute clinic. Their discipline, line, and variations strangled scoring in key overs, putting opposing line-ups under constant stress.
Relentless Field Energy: It was in the field where our spirit really showed. Diving stops right at the boundary ropes, clean pickups, sharp throws, and clutch catches backed our bowlers through every over.
We pushed the contest right to the final wire. Huge congratulations to Lanka Lions on taking the win—battles like this only push us to elevate our game further.
Trophies are great, but tournaments like this remind us of what really matters. Kurumbas isn’t just a squad on a scoresheet; it is a brotherhood and a family that stands united, competes with everything we have, and earns respect wherever we play.
Heads held high, back to the nets, and onto the next one. We are Kurumbas family!
